CAPIC’S 2024 XPOSÉ NATIONAL COMPETITION

September 25 - October 20, 2024

This exhibit of images selected by the Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators (CAPIC) includes three from my 2024 Iceland photo tour of North and East Iceland. I printed them using the bichromate gum over palladium process, which gives them a watercolour, painterly feel and is permanent, as well.

Papermill Gallery, Todmorden Mills, 67 Pottery Road, Toronto, Ontario

TERRAIN

March 4 - April 15, 2024

This major solo exhibit is the first retrospective of my work. Prominent among the places I have photographed since 2003 are ones threatened by climate change. These include urban ravines carved by torrents of glacial meltwater; the melting floe edge of Arctic ice shelves; the primordial canopy of tropical mangroves; Pacific atolls with lagoons the size of cities now endangered by sea level rise. The exhibit also features recent photography of Iceland’s lava fields and coasts. I printed all the images in a colour gum over palladium process which gives them a watercolour, painterly feel and is permanent, as well.

MARSH SCAPE—CANADIAN NATURE BASED SOLUTIONS TO CLIMATE CHANGE

A major solo exhibit featuring recent photography of five important wetlands across Canada, including the Grand Codroy Estuary, Newfoundland; Minesing Wetlands, Ontario; and the Fraser River Delta, British Columbia. These have been designated Wetlands of International Significance under the RAMSAR International Agreement, to which the Canadian government is a signatory. The survey will also include other smaller wetlands that provide case studies of the successful conservation and regeneration work of local citizen and municipal organizations: the Lower Oxtongue River Delta, Ontario and the Leslie Street Spit, Toronto. The exhibit will be be used to raise funds for Canadian charities that are active in conserving wetlands. In this time of COVID, we are craving nature and the outdoors. Wetlands are life giving, spirit habitats!
